TEWKSBURY … Charles Kelley, 89, died Sunday, January 5, in the Saint’s Campus of Lowell General Hospital. He is survived by five sons: Charles R. Kelley and Robert G. Kelley, in Oklahoma, John S. Kelley and Michael P. Kelley, of Northbridge, and Dana R. Kelley, of Westford; two daughters, April J. Farson, of Northbridge, and June C. Appleby, of Nashua, NH; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Jean Willsey.
Mr. Kelley was born in Westborough, April 17, 1924, the son of William and Dorothy (Prest) Kelley. He lived in Westborough, Lynne, and Charlestown, N.H. before moving here three years ago. He was a porter at Worcester State Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Kelley was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was awarded three bronze stars, and spent time as a prisoner of war in Germany.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he enthusiastically rode his Indian motorcycle.
Calling Hours will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, January 9, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville. Burial, in the National Veterans’ Cemetery, in Bourne, will be at a later date.
