Doris F. Rondeau

Worcester —-  Doris Florence Rondeau,  passed away peacefully  on June 26, 2017  at Dodge Park Rest Home surrouded  by her loving family after a long period of declining health.

     Doris is leaves  one son and six daughters.  They are John Nolet and wife Laurel of Chester, MA,  Sharron Nolette of Whitinsville, Deborah Nolet Ballou and husband  Bill,  of Whitinsville,  Carol Nolet Rondeau and husband  Tom of Charlton, Janice Nolet Christie and husband Brian of Bristol, VT,  Cheryl Ann Nolet Smith of Ashburnham, and Judith Nolet Curtis and husband John of Whitinsville, MA. Her former husband of over 20 years is Joseph Nolet of Worcester.

     Doris  has 15 grandchildren: Leah, Erica, Jennifer, Abigail, Mary, William, Nathaniel, Jessica, Leila, Daniel, Rebecca, David, Joleen,  Alicia, and Tyler.  She was great grandmother of 14 children.  There is a special recognition of Rosalie Cummins of Waterbury, VT, close, longtime friend of Doris and the family. 

     From her immediate family, Doris leaves her elder brother Raymond Rondeau of Chandler, AZ, her sister Lu (Rondeau) Kogut of Uxbridge, and youngest brother Paul Rondeau and wife Natalie of Georgetown, MA.  She also leaves many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.

     Predeceasing Doris  are her parents,  Francis Xavier & Aurore Rondeau of Whitinsville,  four brothers, Joseph Edgar Rondeau, Joseph Alfred Rondeau, Richard Rondeau and Leo Rondeau, and a grandson, John William Curtis.

     Born at home in the Linwood part of Uxbridge, Doris was raised in Whitinsville on Cottage St. in the Taft Block.  She attended Northbridge schools and graduated Northbridge HS  in 1944.  In addition, she attended Worcester State Teachers College, and received a Graphics Arts certificate from Blackstone Valley Technical HS.  Her employment history includes  her home day care in Barre, VT, Sprague Electric and Times-Argus in Barre, and Westboro State Hospital where she worked many years in the Administration Building retiring in 1991.

     Blessed with many talents, Doris was a gifted singer, poet, performer, artist, knitter, and cross stitch expert.  Her many hobbies included reading, bird watching, sketching, painting, yard saling with her sister Lu, music, old movies and enjoying all family events. Her sincere cheerfulness, kindness and generosity were among her many virtues that made her so special to everyone.

     Among her community endeavors were: volunteer at Whitinsville Social Library, secretary of Northbridge Historical Committee and Northbridge Historical Society, St Camillus Ladies Aide Society, Primary School kindergarten volunteer,  art editor of NHS Scribe magazine and art editor of NHS yearbook during high school years. 

     Prior to marriage in 1952, Doris was employed at Mt. Washington Hotel in summer of 1944 and was present during the famous Bretton Woods Conference attended by then President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Other resorts she worked at were the Cape Codder, the Breakers in Miami, FL and PineHurst in NC. 

      The family wishes to thank  the Dodge Park Rest Home and its excellent staff,  Notre Dame Hospice and Dr & Mrs. David Weinstock for their unfailing support and compassionate care of their mother during her illness.

     Funeral arrangements are as follows: calling hours at Carr Funeral Home in Whitinsville on Friday June 30 10:30 to 12 noon followed by funeral service at Carr Funeral Home at 12. The family requests donations to these charities in lieu of flowers: Whitinsville Retirement Home, Whitinsville Social Library, Northbridge Historical Society, or one of personal choice.
