Northborough--Dorothy Thelma Brown, formerly of Upton, died Friday, February 16, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center of Northborough. She was 96. She is survived by many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her four brothers; Walter, Irwin, Carlton and Robert and her sister Eleanor Brown. Thelma was born in Northbridge, December 30, 1921, a daughter of Samuel and Eunice (Dixon) Brown. She was raised in Northbridge and graduated in 1940 from Northbridge High School.
While still in high school, Thelma began working in Dr. Leonard Whelan 's office as an assistant. Upon his retirement in 1952, Thelma moved to Westborough and worked at Bay State Abrasives until her retirement in 1984, when she moved to Upton. She had been in Northborough since 2014.
Thelma enjoyed travelling throughout New England and spent virtually every weekend in Falmouth at her family's home. She was a very talented knitter and a former member of the Upton senior bowling league.
Thelma's funeral service is Thursday, February 22, at 11AM, at the Carr Funeral Home. A Calling Hour will precede the service from 10-11AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
