He was born on March 9, 1930, son of the late Frank and Mary (Hyz) Kogut. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lu (Rondeau) Kogut, six children: Gary Kogut, Pamela Kogut-Houghton and her husband David, Laura J. Kogut, Peter Kogut and his wife Debbie, Mark Kogut and his wife Anna, and Don Kogut and his significant other Kris Peterson; 12 grandchildren: Terri, Tammy, Eddy, Chris, Cillea, Cassie, Avery, Kerry, Michael, Rob, Sara, and Katrina; and 6 great-grandchildren: Janelle, Summer, Selina, Eeli, Keegan, and Aria. As a young man, Ed served in the National Guard and trained as a medic in the Korean War. He graduated from Vaughn Barber College in Boston and worked as a barber in Uxbridge and Woonsocket, prior to owning and operating Ed’s Barber Shop in Whitinsville from 1953 – 1969. In the late 1950s, Ed established Kogut’s Flowers growing and distributing plants locally and throughout New England for 45 years. Ed also served on the Board of Directors for Unibank for 20 years.

Ed was loving and devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking large meals, which were greatly enjoyed by all. Well known for his quick wit and humorous anecdotes, he will be deeply missed.
