WHITINSVILLE ... Kenneth J. "Buzzy" Sprott, 76, died at home, Tuesday, August 15, following an illness. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda (Blair) Sprott; a son, Mark A. Sprott, of Whitinsville; two daughters, Kristine A.  Mead, and her husband, Mike, and Karen S. Draleaus, and her husband, Dan, of Northbridge; a brother, Frank Sprott, of Whitinsville; three sisters, Judith Brooks, of Whitinsville, Sonia Verrochi, of Walpole, and Nina Bedard, of Northbridge; two step-brothers, Art and Chuck Broadhurst; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant sons, Erik and Matthew.

Mr. Sprott was born in Whitinsville, December 7, 1940, a son of the late Kenneth E. and Anne (Karoty) Sprott. He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1958, and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He attended Northeastern University, and was enrolled in an apprentice program at Raytheon. An engineer, he worked at Dynamack and the Whitin Machine Works in research and development, and held several patents for engineering designs. He worked and lived in Germany for IWK, in engineering and sales, and at Schweiter Corporation in Switzerland. He retired from Atlas Welding in 2004, and he owned two businesses during his working career, Twin-Mark Textiles, and Aircon, in Upton.

He was a member of Saint Patrick's Church in Whitinsville. He traveled the world, exploring his passions for world and military history. He was a "tinkerer", collector of antiques, including motorcycles, loved fast cars and country music. He was a practical joker who, above all, had a deep love for his family and friends, including three exchange students whom he and Brenda hosted.

Buzzy's Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM, Saturday, August 19, in Saint Patrick's Church.Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 5-7 pm, Friday, August 18, in the Carr  Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 33 Speen Street, Framingham, MA., 01791.
