Madeline N. (Hallowell) Pierpont Hawksley
October 7, 1913 ~ July 15, 2012 (age 98) 98 Years OldUxbridge ... Madeline N. (Hallowell) Pierpont Hawksley, 98, died Sunday, July 15 in the Lydia Taft House. Her husband, Clifford Hawksley, died in 1982. Her first husband, Leland B. Pierpont, died in 1960. She is survived by three sons, William Pierpont, and his wife, Gail, of Whitinsville, Richard Pierpont, and his wife, Janice, of Uxbridge, and Ronald Pierpont, of Douglas; a stepdaughter, Shirley Senecal, and her husband, Gerard, of Manchaug; a sister, Ione Dixon, and her husband, Robert, of Mars Hill, ME; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Donald Pierpont, a brother, Donald Hallowell, and a sister, Alice Hartley.
Mrs. Hawksley was born October 7, 1913, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of Charles and Ida (Bull) Hallowell. As a youth, she moved to Blaine, Maine, and graduated from Aroostock Academy, in Mars Hill. She lived in Sutton for 20 years before moving to Douglas in 1981. Mrs. Hawksley was a stitcher at the former Brown Shoe Company for 20 years, prior to retiring in 1978. Previously, she was a cook at Portland Hospital in Maine.
A wonderful cook, she loved flowers, and she enjoyed playing cribbage.
Mrs. Hawksely's Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, July 19, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, preceded by a Calling Hour from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow in South Sutton Cemetery. To leave a message of condolence, visit www.carrfuneralhome.com.
