Northbridge--Thayer N. "Butch" Oosterman, 67, died at home, Friday July 1. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan (VanderKooi) Oosterman; three sons, Glen, Thomas and Jereme Oosterman; five daughters, Barbara Woodman, Marie Oosterman, Aileen Visser, Janet Holt and Sarah Dennis; 16 grand children, 3 great grand children and a sister, Debra Reitsma. He is predeceased by his sister Gloria Okkema.
Butch was born October 29, 1948 in Worcester, a son of George and Marion (Feddema) Oosterman. He grew up in Northbridge and graduated from Northbridge High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at McIntyre Loam Company, in Hopkinton, for 37 years, where he was their first employee.
Mr. Oosterman was a life long member of Pleasant St. Christian Reformed Church, where he earnestly served coffee for 35 years. He was an avid collector of John Deere equipment and a member of the Medway "Old Coots Club". Butch enjoyed family time on the farmers porch with his wife and playing board games. He was very active in the Polio support group and tractor shows.
Calling Hours are Tuesday, July 5, from 5-8 PM, in the Pleasant St. Christian Reformed Church, Whitinsville. Mr. Oosterman's Funeral will be Wednesday, July 6 at 10 AM at the church, burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
