James D. "Doug" Woeller

James D. "Doug" Woeller, died Sunday, February 11, 2024, at home with his loving family by his side.  One of four sons born to the late Herman and Beatrice (Doble) Woeller, Sr., Doug was born in Milford, March 19, 1948.  He leaves his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Cathy (Forsythe) Woeller; a daughter Lisa Simmons, of Whitinsville, a son James Woeller and his wife Michelle, of Barnstable; 3 brothers: Herman Woeller, Jr., of Whitinsville; John Woeller and his wife Karen, of Grafton; and Kort Woeller and his wife Mandy, of Utah; and 5 grandchildren: Lindsay Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Evan Perkins, Michaela Perkins, and Ryan Woeller.

Doug lived most of his life in Northbridge.  He was a proud Vietnam era veteran of the United States Navy.  He retired from the former Morgan Construction Company, in Worcester, where he started as an operator, and retired as night supervisor. Doug was an avid boxer and in 1971 he was the AAU bantam weight class champion. He enjoyed fresh and saltwater fishing.  He and Cathy looked forward to their yearly road trips to Florida for the month of March.  While there, he would "warm up" for the golf season. Upon returning home, Doug would resume playing golf daily at Shining Rock Golf Club, where he was most often the first person at the course in the morning. 

Calling Hours will be Friday, February 23, from 5-7PM, at the funeral home.  Doug's Funeral Mass will be at 11AM, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Saint Patrick's Church, Cross St., Whitinsville.  Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be at 11:15AM, Monday, March 18, 2024.
