Kathleen A. (Bosma) Buurma passed peacefully while surrounded by her devoted family, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, after a period of declining health. Kathy leaves three sons: Russell Buurma and his partner Linda Smith, of Linwood; Phillip Buurma and his wife Kristin, of Northbridge; Thomas Buurma, of Northbridge; two daughters: Robin Cunningham, of Lowell, MI and Bonnie Olthof and her husband Scot, of St. John, IN; three brothers: Dr. Melvin Bosma, of PA; Henry Bosma and Leonard Bosma, both of MI; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Born January 8, 1936, in Northbridge to Frank and Grace (Zylstra) Bosma, Kathy graduated from Northbridge High School in 1952 and Calvin College in 1956, with a degree in Nursing. For 30 years she was a Registered Nurse at the former Sunshine Haven, on Linwood Ave. in Whitinsville. Aside from several years spent in Chicago, Kathy lived most of her life in Northbridge.
Kathy was a talented singer. She sang solo in many area churches and at weddings. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed her home and yard. She was a member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, in Whitinsville. Kathy loved her children and their families, but above all, she loved the Lord.
A Memorial Service at the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church will be at 11AM, Saturday, March 9, 2024. Calling Hours will be from 9-11AM in the church fellowship hall, preceding the service. Burial will be held at a later time.
