Victoria K. (Arakelian) Bedigian, 102, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends, Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Harry Bedigian, in 1999. She is survived by her four sons: Philip Bedigian of Whitinsville; Harry Bedigian and his wife Jean, of Redwood City, California; Jeff Bedigian and his wife Jayne, of Whitinsville; and Mark Bedigian and his wife Margot, of Naperville, Illinois; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by her brothers Varkis and Theodore Arakelian, and sisters Helen Andrews and Margaret Hagopian.
A daughter of Kazar and Ohdig (DerSarkisian) Arakelian, Vicky was born in Whitinsville on November 25, 1921, and was a graduate of Northbridge High School. She was a long-time member of the Village Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school and was the former treasurer of the Women’s Fellowship of the Village Church. While raising her four boys was her priority, Vicky was a pioneer in helping to advance opportunities for women. It wasn't until her boys were school age that she entered the workforce. She was previously employed at the former Whitinsville Savings Bank, currently Unibank, and worked her way from teller to assistant treasurer and mortgage officer before retiring in 1989. Vicky's family and spending time with them was always the center of her life.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Village Congregational Church, from 9:30-10:30AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Linwood Ave., Whitinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Village Congregational Church, PO Box 217, Whitinsville, MA 01588.
