Dennis R. Armstrong

Northbridge-- Dennis R. Armstrong, 70, died Tuesday, September 4, at home.  He leaves his loving wife of 47 years,  Jean (Wagner) Armstrong, and a son, Michael Armstrong, of Northbridge.  In addition, he leaves two brothers;  Robert Armstrong, of Danville, NH, and James Armstrong, and his wife Lisa, of  E. Hampstead, NH;  a sister,  Maureen McNamara, and her husband Irving, also of  E. Hampstead; nephews and neices.  He was predeceased by his parents, Robert T. and Anna E. (Kelly) Armstrong, and a brother William.
     Born in Arlington,  May 10, 1948, Dennis grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School.  After graduating from Providence College,  Dennis enjoyed a long successful career in the steel supply and distribution industry, most recently as a sales manager for Denman and Davis, in Smithfield, RI.  Previously,  he worked for Ryerson (formerly Joseph T. Ryerson Steel) where he held many positions during his 33 year tenure, before ultimately serving as regional product manager for the grinding division.   Over the years Dennis' job brought his family to live in Chicago, IL, Plainville, MA, Cumberland, RI and, 16 years ago, to Northbridge.
     Dennis took great pleasure in caring for his home and yard; fixing most everything and tending his lawn and landscape, and birdwatching.  An avid reader and US History buff, he and Jean traveled throughout the United States visiting many historical sites.  His focus was always on his family.

     Dennis' Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, September 25 at 10:30AM, at Saint Mark's Church, Boston Road, Sutton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UMMF, c/o  UMASS/Memorial Transplant Clinic, 55 Lake Ave., Worcester, MA, 01605.  Please indicate in the check memo, Transplant Patient Assistance Fund.
