Whitinsville-Douglas K. Brown, 70, died unexpectedly January 5, with his wife by his side.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Girard) Brown, two sons; Scott Brown, of Whitinsville and James Brown and his spouse Emily Hauer and daughter Samantha, of Sudbury; and many nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by his brother, James, in 2018.

Mr. Brown was born January 18, 1948 in Worcester, a son of Thurston K. and Madeliene (Gorman) Brown.  He grew up in North Uxbridge  and graduated from St. Mary's High School and Merrimack College before earning a Master's Degree from Worcester State College.  As an educator in Douglas for 40 years, he taught middle school History, served as Dean of Students,  coached basketball, was active with Students Against Drunk Driving, served as the high school MTA representative, and was class advisor for many graduating classes. Since retiring from the  Douglas school system, he had been working  as a permanent substitute teacher at the Northbridge Middle and High Schools. He was also a  basketball referee with the IAABO, OWCA, ECAC and NCAA for the past 50 years.

A devoted  Patriots fan, he was a 25 year season ticket holder.  He was an avid couponer.  Mr. Brown had great pride in his North Carolina mountain house where he enjoyed spending time with his brother.  He especially loved spending time with his grand daughter.
