Frederick R. ("Beaver") Johnson
December 11, 1941 ~ November 1, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years OldUXBRIDGE ... Frederick R. "Beaver" Johnson, 75, died Wednesday, November 1, in the Blackstone Nursing Home. He is survived by two brothers, William "Jigger" Johnson, and Harold "Snooky"" Johnson, of Uxbridge; two sisters, Nancy Harper, of Whitinsville, and Wanda Johnson and her longtime companion, Robert Shea, of Millville; a godson, Stephen Harper, and his wife, Jean, of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John, and his brother-in-law, Peter Harper.
Beaver was born in Milford, December 11, 1941, a son of Harold F. and Ida (Gnaidek) Johnson, and was a lifelong Uxbridge resident. He was a 1960 graduate of Uxbridge High School where he was an outstanding athlete, and captained the baseball, basketball and football teams, and was elected to the Uxbridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame. As a youth, he was member of the Good Shepherd Church CYO basketball team, and he played on the 1959 Milford Powers Post American Legion State Championship baseball team.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked with his brother at the Johnson Siding Company.
Beaver loved family gatherings, and he enjoyed golf, candlepin bowling, and trips to the dog track and Twin Rivers.
Beaver's Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Tuesday, November 7, in Good Shepherd Church, Linwood, followed by burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling Hours will be 9-10:30am, Tuesday, November 7, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
