WHITINSVILLE … James S. Sheehan, 80, passed away peacefully June 25th with his family by his side. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Jeanne (Pelletier) Sheehan; five children, Lynne Mellor and her husband, Michael, of Hopkinton, James Sheehan, Jr., and his wife, Paula, of Millbury, Michael Sheehan and his wife, Margaret, of Whitinsville, Kellie Gray and her husband, Kevin, of Whitinsville, and Kristine Loiselle and her husband, Michael, of Whitinsville; 12 grandchildren, and his brother, William. He was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Allaire.
Mr. Sheehan was born March 11, 1939, in Woonsocket, RI, a son of James and Anna (Jaworski) Sheehan. He grew up in Blackstone, graduating from Blackstone High School, and moved to Northbridge 55 years ago. He earned degrees in Accounting and Taxation from Bryant College and Bentley College and worked as a Certified Public Account for many years before retiring 20 years ago.
Throughout his life, he was a member of Saint Peter's Church in Northbridge, the Knights of Columbus, the Northbridge Senior Center, and various organizations where he volunteered and was active fundraising to help others.
Surviving polio as a child, he had a love and thirst for life, believing every day was a gift. He enjoyed traveling, camping, museums, history, playing cards and the occasional trip to play the slots. His biggest enjoyment came from spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren where holidays and barbecues would involve a house full of family and friends.
Mr. Sheehan's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, Saturday, July 6, in Saint peter's Church, Church Avenue, Northbridge. There are no Calling Hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38101-9908.
