Joyce Vermeulen

WHITINSVILLE ... Joyce Vermeulen, 73, of Whitinsville, passed away on November 27, 2016. She was surrounded by her family, in her home.

Joyce attended Ramapo High School, Franklin Lakes, NJ, before studying at Jersey City State College, NJ. She graduated with a BS in Nursing and Education. She taught at Christ Episcopal Hospital, and went on to receive an advanced nursing degree from Boston University, Boston, MA. She was passionate about nursing, and enjoyed a stellar career, working locally at Milford Regional Hospital, and UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Toward the later years of her life, Joyce enjoyed residences in both Cushing, ME., and Whitinsville,  MA. She loved music, was an accomplished pianist and flutist, and was an active member of Broad Cove Church, Cushing, ME. She enjoyed gardening, hiking, and was an excellent cook.

She was a beloved mother to her three children: Brian, Sharon, and Tim Wiegers. She also is survived by her brother, Abrahm Vermeulen, daughter-in-laws Sue and Sarah Wiegers, her niece, Suzanne Hein-Cottle, and four beautiful grandchildren.

A private Memorial Service is being held for family.

She will be greatly missed.
