UXBRIDGE---Nishan "Nish" Ovian died Thursday, March 16, at St. Camillus Health Center after a period of declining health.
 
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Victoria (Agsanian) Ovian, 2 sons, Mark and his wife,  Linda, of Whitinsville; Craig, and his wife Tracey, of Douglas, a daughter, Betty Smith and her husband Jeff, of Uxbridge.  He was beloved by his 5 grandchildren:  April Ballou and her husband Charlie, Capt. Mason Ovian of the US Marines,  Jared, Olivia, and Colin Smith, and one great-grandson, Wyatt Ballou.  He leaves three brothers:  Steve, Mike, and his wife Adrienne, and Karnig Ovian, and his wife Diana and a sister-in-law, Keene Ovian.  He was predeceased by his brother Kayem and his sister-in-law Ann.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
 
Nish was born in Whitinsville, Ma., the son of Abraham and Zaroohi (Sisoian) Ovian.  He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1946.  He joined the U.S. Army soon after and served in Japan in the Occupation Forces.  He worked at Whitin Machine Works for several years as a Buyer in their Purchasing Dept.  In later years, he was a salesman in the plastics industry.
 
Nish was a member of the Whitinsville Golf Club.  As a youngster, Nish caddied at the Club and it was there that his love for the game of golf started and remained with him all his life.  He was a passionate sports fan and enjoyed watching all the Boston sports teams on TV.
 
The family would like to thank St. Camillus Health Center for the excellent care provided to Nish during the time he was a resident there.
 
Calling hours will be held at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville,  Friday, March 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at St. Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville.  Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Asdvadzadzin Armenian Church, 315 Church St. Whitinsville, MA 01588 or to St. Camillus Long term Memory Care Activities Division, 447 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
