Ruth M. (King) Lubas

Northbridge--Ruth M. (King) Lubas passed into the loving arms of her savior while surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, April 17, in the UMASS Memorial Medical Center.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Frank C. Lubas, in 2016, and her brothers Russell and Earl "Sonny" King.  She is survived by two sons; Peter F. Lubas  and his wife Beth, of New Braintree and Paul N. Lubas of Whitinsville; three daughters; Diane R. Lajoie and her husband Peter, of Uxbridge, Judy C. Bowker and her husband Lee, of Millbury and Carol A. Jackson, of Sutton;   and a son-in-law Brian Jackson, of Sutton; 10 grandchildren: Peter, Christine, Katie, Sarah, Matt, Steven, Cameron, Aiden, Josh and Jen;  and 2 great-grandchildren Ethan and Cody.

Ruth was born in Northbridge, February 26, 1930, the daughter of Norman and Mae (Lambert) King. She grew up in Uxbridge and Douglas before moving to Northbridge after she married..  She worked as a machine operator in the former Paul Whitin Mfg. Co.  After staying home to raise her family, she returned to work at  the former Northbridge Nursing Home as a housekeeper and volunteered at Beaumont Nursing Home.

Ruth was a long-time active and devoted member of the Rockdale Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.  When her children were young, she volunteered in their school.  She was a member of the Senior Center and for many years volunteered with her husband at the N.A.C. Food Pantry.  She was an avid sewer and talented knitter and quilter.  She and her husband enjoyed dancing, bus tours and vacationing in Jaffrey, NH. She also loved gardening and bird watching.

Mrs. Lubas' funeral will be held at 11AM, Saturday, April 21 in the Rockdale Congregational Church, followed by burial in Riverdale Cemetery.  At her request, there are no calling hours.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockdale Congregational Church, Fowler Rd., Northbridge, MA 01534.
