Northbridge-Sharon M. (Ramsey) Swartz, 70, died peacefully Tuesday, July 17. Sharon leaves her daughter, Fonda Swartz and grand daughter, Kaya Decker; sisters, Wendy Sullivan and Lu Ann Ramsey; a sister-in-law, Lena Swartz, nephews; Kyle Sullivan and Ben Armstrong, neices; Sue Shaw, Cassy Sullivan, Cory Armstrong, Gretchen Noel, Tina Lindner, Elaine Durovey and Kenda Swartz-Pepper; a close cousin, Tina Ramsey and many extended loved ones. Sharon was predeceased by her long time companion Barrie Westerman in 2012, her sister Brenda Armstrong in 1998, and brother Robert Ramsey, Jr. in infancy.
Born in Milford on February 4, 1948, a daughter of the late Robert F. and Marion O. (Peters) Ramsey, Sharon was raised in Upton and graduated with the class of 1966 from Nipmuc High School. She graduated from Framingham State University and earned a Master's Degree in Social Work at LaSalle College. A resident of Northbridge since 2013, Sharon previously lived in Milford for 17 years after moving from Upton. At the time of her passing, she was employeed as a psychiatric social worker at Arbour-Fuller Hospital in Attleboro.
Sharon loved animals and enjoyed traveling. Gloucester and Rockport were favorite local destinations. Niagra Falls, Nova Scotia and Washington State to visit her daughter and grand daughter were among her favorite road trips. Sharon was a published poet and amatuer photographer.
An intimate gathering of Sharon's friends and family will be held at the home of her sister Wendy Sullivan, 9 Easy St., Uxbridge, MA, on Saturday, July 28, from 1-4PM. In lieu of flowers, please bring a favorite dish and memory to share. Donations in Sharon's memory may be made to the Wolf Conservation Center, PO Box 421, South Salem, NY 10590.
