Whitinsville--Thomas W. "Tucker" Brouwer, died Friday, October 19, at St. Camillus Health Center, while surrounded by family. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy (Norcross) Brouwer, son Thomas Brouwer and his wife Susan, of Northbridge; two daughters, Susan Brouwer, of W. Roxbury and Amy Gahan and her husband James, of Northbridge; a sister Ruth Bajema, of Caledonia MI; and five grandchildren, Meagan, Christopher, Patrick, Ian and Molly. He was predeceased by a brother William, sister Janice Hendriks and grand daughter Emma Nancy.
Tucker was born May 1, 1937 in Whitinsville, a son of Benjamin and Sadie (Wiersma) Brouwer, and graduated from Northbridge High School in 1955. After attending Calvin College, he enlisted in the Army, where he served in Germany. In 1959 he began working for Coca-Cola, initially at the Worcester Plant, but retiring from the Westborough plant in 2002, after a 43 year career as a salesman and truck driver.
Mr. Brouwer was an ardent Boston sports fan in addition to being a fixture on the Northbridge Football sidelines. He coached and umpired Northbridge Little League for many years. He especially enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was a life long member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church.
Mr. Brouwer's Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 23, at 11AM in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, preceded by a period of visitation in the church hall from 9:30-11AM.
