Verken (Ovian) Naroian

Whitinsville--Verken (Ovian) Naroian, 91, passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday, February 16.  Her husband of 52 years, Ira Naroian, died in 2000.  She leaves three daughters and their husbands; Barbara and William Beane, of Whitinsville, Beverly and Jeffrey Benton, of Northbridge, and Linda and Neal Ratcliffe, of Whitinsville; 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Megan, Katherine, Benjamin, John, Maura, LeeAnn and Chris; 5 great grandchildren, Ayla, Cole, Brayden, Landon and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Naroian was predeceased by her brothers Mooshek, Mike and Varkis and a sister Takouyhi Mergerditchian.

Mrs. Naroian was born in Whitinsville  May 12, 1925,  a daughter of Jacob and Anna (Haratounian) Ovian.  She graduated from Northbridge High School in 1943 and resided in Whitinsville her entire life.  As a teen, she worked at Dickman's Shoe Store, after graduation did office work at the Whitin Machine Works, and while raising her family worked part time at Louis Fashion Shop.  She was a life long member of the Village Congregational Church.  Mrs. Naroian took great pride in caring for her yard and loved spending time outside tending  her flower and vegetable gardens.  She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed hosting holiday dinners and gatherings.  Her family was of the utmost importance and time with them was her greatest pleasure.

The family would like to thank Milford Regional Medical Center, St. Camillus Health Center and St. Camillus Adult Day Health Center for the excellent care provided to their mother during recent months. 

Calling Hours are Tuesday, February 21 at the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville, from 4-7PM.  Mrs. Naroian's funeral is Wednesday, February 22, at 11AM, in the Village Congregational Church, Whitinsville.  Burial will follow Pine Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Village Congregational Church, 5 Church St. Whitinsville, MA 01588.
