Alice (DerTorosian) Sagherian, age 93, passed away January 16, 2024. She was predeceased in 1990 by her husband of 33 years, Samuel Sagherian. Alice is survived by her son Mark Sagherian and his wife Veronica of Belmont, daughter Sosie Sagherian and her husband Robert Valenti of Walnut Creek, CA; 4 grandchildren: Samuel and Talene Sagherian, and Samuel and Armen Valenti. She was predeceased by her sisters Lucy Bedrosian and Mary Barsamian.
Born on September 30, 1930, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Margos and Eghsa (Mergerdichian) DerTorosian. Alice was raised in Whitinsville and graduated from Northbridge High School.
In an era when most of her contemporaries were homemakers Alice, was a successful working professional. Over the span of her career, she worked her way up to managing a thriving orthopedic practice at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Her roots ran deep in the Armenian community in and beyond. She was active in the Armenian Youth Federation and then later in her youth was a founding member of the Armenian Church in Whitinsville. There she served actively for 60 years.
What brought Alice the most joy was the company of her family.
Alice's Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Monday, January 22, in Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church Street, Whitinsville, with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to her service at the church from 10-11AM.
