Arthur G. Mastoras

Arthur G. Mastoras, beloved Papou, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, at the age of 94. Art leaves his devoted wife of 61 years, Marilyn (Codding) Mastoras; three children; Mark Mastoras, Gregg Mastoras and his wife Lara Metcalf, Ellen Hall and her husband Tim, and five grandchildren; Mira, Cameron, Katrina, Lindsay, and Ryan. Born in Laconia, New Hampshire December 18, 1929, Art was the son of George and Eftemia (Hatzes) Mastoras. 

Following high school Art briefly attended the University of New Hampshire, then Tufts University graduating with a bachelor's degree. Art then enlisted in the United States Army, was sent to the Army Language School, and then stationed for several years in Italy where he was a part of the Counter Intelligence Corps. Following his Army discharge, Art began working for Kodak in Rochester, New York, where he met Marilyn. Art left Kodak to work as a data analyst with the Mobil Corp (now ExxonMobil), a career that spanned several decades and brought the family to live in Italy and New Zealand before finally settling in New Canaan, Connecticut, where Arthur and Marilyn raised their family. After retiring in the early 1990's, he continued to share his computer knowledge by teaching adult education courses.

Art fully enjoyed two major hobbies: skiing and sailing. He loved sailing in the summer and skiing in the New Hampshire mountains with the family in the winter, teaching all his children how to ski. Skiing led him and Marilyn to Colorado where they enjoyed a home in Steamboat Springs for over 30 years. Art skied until he was 90. His favorite saying was "Skiers never die; they just go downhill".   Once grandchildren arrived, they split time between Northbridge to be close to them and Colorado. Art was a very involved father and Papou, always at his children's and grandchildren’s events whenever possible.
