Carol A. (Mitchell) Lewis

Carol Ann Lewis (nee Mitchell) passed this life on November 2, 2023, in Worcester, MA. She was the widow of William Arthur Lewis, Jr., who predeceased her in 2013.  They had been married for 42 years.

Carol was born in Boston, MA to Vann and Vivian Mitchell (nee Jennings) on February 5, 1945.  She graduated from Malden High School in 1963 and later attended secretarial school and modeling school.

Over the years Carol worked for Bank of Boston, Tufts University, the American Automobile Association, UMASS Hospital and Natick Research and Development.  Her major occupation during the last few decades was as the co-founder and co-director of Healing Heart Hospitality House in Worcester, MA.

Carol was an avid quilter.  She also sewed clothing and home decorations.  She served as a deacon in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, Whitinsville, and founded a widows’ support group called “First Sunday”. 

Carol leaves a daughter, Tracy C. Lewis, of Lawrenceville, GA; sons Gregory V. Lewis and his wife Angela, of Lilburn, GA, and William A. Lewis, III and his wife Meredith, of Worcester; 6 grandchildren: Aisha Lewis, Alysha Lewis and her wife Taretta Madison-Lewis, Gregory Lewis and his wife Asia, Cameron Lewis, Cedric Lewis, and William Lewis IV; 4 great grandchildren: Terrell Lewis, Theodore Abdullah, Kaiden Lewis, and Amari Lewis; and a sister Vernay Mitchell-McKnight and her husband Thomas McKnight, of Bronxville, NY.

Calling Hours will be Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 5-8PM, at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville. Carol’s Funeral will be held at 11AM, Friday, November 10, in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.  Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Providence Rd., Whitinsville.  **The Funeral Service will be live streamed.  The link is below the service information and will be available shortly before the funeral service begins.
