Caroline Bigelow-Forte, 76, of Upton, MA, died Friday, April 2, 2021 in the Milford Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by her loving family. She leaves four children: Margaret "Peggy" Howe and her husband John, of South Dennis, MA; Joseph M. Forte Jr. and his wife Andrea, of Palmetto, FL; Timothy J. Forte Sr. and his wife Trudy, of Southbridge, MA; Douglas J. Forte and his life partner Amy Leite, of Douglas, MA; and a brother Edward Bigelow and his wife Sharon, of Upton, MA; and a sister Myra J. Bigelow of Upton, MA; sister-in-law Leann Bigelow of Northbridge, MA; her life-long friend Maureen Sullivan Kuehn of Randolph, VT; and her former husband, Joseph M. Forte Sr. of Ellenton, FL. Caroline was a proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren; Amber Stevens, Joe Forte III, Heather Forte, Timothy Forte Jr., John “Jack” Howe III, Jaryd Howe, Jessica Forte, and Rachel Forte, and 4 great grandsons; Wyatt Stevens, Henry Trudeau, Brody Forte, and Cameron Howe, and she was anticipating the arrival of her fifth great grandson at the end of April.
She was predeceased by her sister Gladys McKinstry, and her brother Elliot Bigelow.
A daughter of Aram and Grace (Berry) Bigelow, Caroline was born in Rochester, NH on June 12, 1944. As a young child she lived in Berwick, ME, but grew up in Upton, MA.
She was a very talented seamstress. She designed and made her daughter's wedding dress. She designed and sewed quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as creating quilts to honor special family occasions and celebrations. As a young woman, she enjoyed dancing as well as car racing. Although she didn't watch much television she did enjoy watching Olympic figure skating. She liked to do crossword puzzles, word searches and Sudoku. Caroline had many dogs during her life, and leaves her "beloved Muffin" with her sister Myra.
Above all else, Caroline loved her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Calling Hours from 5-7PM, will be Thursday, April 8, 2021. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be enforced. Please be prepared to wait in line as occupancy is limited inside the funeral home.
