SUTTON ...Diane A. (Hill) Wick, 65, died Friday, December 23, in the Milford Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas A. Wick; a son, Jacob M. (Marty) Wick, of Worcester; a daughter, Lillian G. (Gennie) Baldwin, and her husband, Bryan, of Whitinsville; grandchildren, Sofia and Benjamin Baldwin; and three brothers, Jerome Hill, in LA,  Samuel Hill, in ME, and Frank Hill, in Boston; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Solomon Hill, Jr., and David Hill, and by a sister, Betty Mahome.

Mrs. Wick was born in Lockport, NY, July 3, 1951, a daughter of Solomon and Elizabeth (Taylor) Hill, where she grew up and graduated from Lockport High School. She had lived in Sutton since 1984.

A graduate of Mount Ida College and the New England Institute of Funeral Directing and Embalming, Mrs. Wick worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer at several Worcester area and Springfield funeral homes. She received special recognition from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as the first black and first female funeral director in Worcester County.

A member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville, her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Wick's Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 28, in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, followed by burial in Riverdale Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, December 27, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
