Whitinsville ... Donald K. Lange, 89, died peacefully in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Thursday, September 9. His wife, Elinor (Kelliher) Lange, died in 2014. Elinor and Donald were high school sweethearts and they enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Lange and his wife, Susan, and Kurt Lange and his wife, Donna, of Whitinsville; four grandchildren, Sarah, Max, Andrew and Rebecca; three great children, Jacob, Luke and Annabelle; and two sisters, Edna John, of Northbridge, and Marlene Bishop, of Whitinsville. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Lange, grandson, Brendon, and great granddaughter, Alexandra.
Mr. Lange was born in Northbridge, February 28, 1932, the son of Kurt and Irene (Stanley) Lange, and he was a lifelong resident, and graduated from Northbridge High School in 1950.
Donald was the owner of United Tool & Manufacturing in Millbury, retiring in 2015. He previously worked at Mil-Lor Engineering in Millville as well as Whitin Machine Works.
Donald was very actively involved in the town of Northbridge. He was 36 year member and Chairman of the Northbridge School Committee, serving from 1971-2007. He was also a longtime member of the Northbridge Building and Planning Committee, and he was an auxiliary police officer in Northbridge.
Donald was a lifetime member of the Rockdale Congregational Church, serving as moderator and deacon and he also enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a former trustee at Unibank.
Above all, Donald was a family man whose greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, especially around the dinner table every Sunday. He also loved gardening and working around his yard.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Monday, September 13, in the Rockdale Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling Hours will be 5-7pm, Sunday, September 12, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
