Douglas G. Thompson, 66, died Wednesday, May 4, in Saint Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. He is survived by four brothers: Jack Thompson, and his wife, Nancy, of Uxbridge; Charles Thompson, and Christopher Thompson, and his wife, Mary, of Whitinsville; and David Thompson and his wife, Anne, of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Susan Thompson.
Doug was born in Whitinsville, January 15, 1956, a son of the late John and Ruth (Leech) Thompson. He grew up in Whitinsville, and lived in Worcester 41 years. He was a 1974 graduate of Northbridge High School, and earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Doug recently retired from One Diversified in Concord, after 22 years, and previously worked 20 years at WPI as Director of the Instructional Media Center.
He was a lifetime member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church in Whitinsville, and he spent many years as an adult volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 155 in Whitinsville.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, June 4, in the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church, 61 Linwood Avenue, Whitinsville, preceded by a Calling Hour from 1-2pm. Donations in Doug's memory may be directed to the church.
