Edward Valk

WHITINSVILLE ... Edward Valk, 84, of Whitinsville, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017, after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer's disease at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster, MA.

He is survived by three children, Edward A., and his wife, Brenda, of Whitinsville; Steven . and his wife, Kathy, of Birdsboro, PA; and Lisa I. Ohman, and her boyfriend, Rick Clark, of Whitinsville; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife,  Elizabeth  A. (Betty) Valk, who passed away on October 12, 2013, and his son, Douglas E., who passed away June 4, 2014.

Mr. Valk was born on August 11, 1932, the son of Andrew and Frederika Valk, and attended Northbridge  High School.

Mr. Valk spent his career as a tool and die maker, beginning at the Whitin Machine Works, and retirirng from Lampin Gear in 1997. In addition to being a loving husband and father, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and spending time at the Northbridge Senior Center, where he and Betty enjoyed shuffleboard. Mr. Valk was a dedicated member of the Village Congregational Church in Whitinsville.

There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will take place at a later date for family and invited guests.
