Northbridge—Eleanor N. (Deso) Lavoie, passed away Thursday, April 12, at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur J. Lavoie in 1975, her brother Leonard and sister Evelyn Wilson. Mrs. Lavoie leaves her sons Maurice E. Lavoie and his wife Brenda, of Northbridge, David A. Lavoie and his wife Sandra, of Uxbridge and her daughter Mary Yurasha and her husband Paul, of Northbridge; Brothers Richard and Raymond Deso, of St. Albans, VT, sisters Dorothy Kennison, of Morrissville, VT, and Pauline Gray, of Newport, VT; 10 grandchildren; Robert, Philip and Jennifer Lavoie, Christopher Plante, Roger LaPlante, Kimberely Eisenstock, Steven Yurasha, Jeffrey Yurasha, Leigh Bianco and Marguerite White, and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lavoie was born October 20, 1929, in St. Albans, a daughter of Nellie (Rich) and Charles Deso. She was a 1947 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. Before moving to Beaumont 3 years ago she resided in Sutton since 1965. She worked as a waitress for many years at both the Brightstar Diner and Stewart’s Restaurant, and at Manchaug Corp, then as an inspector for Tredegar Co., in South Grafton, before retiring.
She was a former member of St. Anne’s Church in Manchaug, the Women’s Auxiliary of the John Matechuk Post American Legion # 390 and enjoyed attending the Sutton Senior Center.
Mrs. Lavoie’s Funeral Service will be held in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville, on Tuesday, April 17, at 10AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge, will follow. Calling Hours on Monday, April 16, are from 5-7 at Carr Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
