Elizabeth A. "Beth" Blizard, 76, died Tuesday, November 24, in Webster Manor Nursing Home, following a period of declining health. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph W. Darcy; two daughters, Erin Lewis, of Douglas, and Mariellen Darcy, of Sturbridge; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Brett and Brooke Belanger, and Liberty and Ellie Lewis; three brothers, Gordon and Sally Blizard, and Brian and David Blizard, in Florida. She was predeceased by her brothers, Alan, William and Kenneth, and her sisters, Linda and Margie.
Beth was born in Whitinsville, April 30, 1944, a daughter of Allen and Irma (Burke) Blizard. She lived many years in Uxbridge before moving to Sturbridge 15 years ago. She graduated from Northbridge High School in 1962, and from the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing. Beth's life journey led her down several diverse and interesting paths. She was a pharmaceutical nurse, a special education teacher at the Glavin Center, a school bus driver, and a CDL driving instructor.
Beth loved music. She sang with the "Messengers", and would offer a song at any occasion. She played the violin, accordian and harmonica, and loved to roller skate. In recent years, she especially enjoyed being a member of the Class of '62 Golden Girls.
Calling Hours will be held from 6:30-8pm, Monday, November 30. Funeral Services will be private.
