Florence (Pieleski) Phelps
July 3, 1922 ~ March 4, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years OldWhitinsville—Florence (Pieleski) Phelps, 94, died Saturday, March 4, at home. She was predeceased by her husband Paul H. Phelps in 2004. Mrs. Phelps is survived by a daughter, Sarah Sofianos and her husband Antony, of Clearwater, FL, her step-children Edson H. Phelps, and his wife Bettyjane, of Manchester, CT and Joan Snediker, and her husband Jim, of Marco Island, FL, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother, Chester Pieleski, and two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Janet F. Pieleski, her brother Walter W. Pieleski and step-daughter, Dena M. Phelps.
Mrs. Phelps was born in Whitinsville, July 3, 1922, to Louis and Eleonora (Kapala) Pieleski. She graduated in 1940 from Northbridge High School and attended the former Hills Business College in Woonsocket. She worked at the Whitin Machine Works and State Mutual Life Assurance Co. She was proud to have written for both the Spindle and News From Home, during her employment at the Whitin Machine Works. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
Calling Hours at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville, are Sunday, March 12 from 4-6PM. Mrs. Phelps’ Funeral Mass is Monday, March 13, at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church; burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank Salmon VNA/Hospice for all their help; and especially Linda Genest for her years of loving care and companionship.
