Frances Eileen McNelly, age 86, passed peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022, in the Milford Regional Medical Center, after a period of declining health. Eileen was born in Northbridge February 2, 1936, a daughter of the late John and Agnes (Thompson) McNelly. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers: John Jr., George, Clyde, Charles and Merrill; and a sister Mary Knight. Aside from a brief period living in Sutton, Eileen lived her entire life in Northbridge and was a lifelong member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church. Eileen's home was with Barbara Gallagher and her family for more than 15 years. She was a "grandmother" to the Gallagher children and great-grandchildren.
In 1980, Eileen started working at the former Alternatives Unlimited in Whitinsville, where she remained for more than 25 years. Since 2001, she was a daily attendee at Blair House Adult Day, in Milford, until health issues prevented her participation in the program. Eileen loved collecting pocketbooks and wallets, her collection of each numbered in the hundreds. She also loved collecting photographs of people she knew, and pictures cut out from newspapers and magazines. She was known to request having her picture taken with her many friends and people she just met.
Eileen's Funeral will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, November 15, in the Carr Funeral Home. A Calling Hour, from 10-11AM, will precede the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Sky, 4 Mann St., Worcester, MA 01602.
