Francis E. Noonan, 99, formerly of Natick, Belmont, and Winchester, died Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Louise (Kelley) Noonan and devoted father of Patricia Noonan, of Missouri, Francis Noonan, Jr. and his wife Andrea, of Framingham, John Noonan, of Holliston, Mary Snow and her husband Larry, of Natick, Walter Noonan, of Whitinsville, Judith Noonan and her significant other David, of Framingham, and Maureen Noonan, of Washington. In addition, he leaves a granddaughter, Tammilee (Prouty) Thorpe, and great grandchildren Ysabella and Antonio. He was predeceased by his son Dennis, and siblings Rita Banks, Charles, Harry, Daniel, William, Walter, Gerald and Amilda Noonan.
A son of Henry G. and Anna (White) Noonan, Frank was born May 13, 1921, in Winchester. He attended the Winchester schools and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 16. A World War II veteran of the US Navy, he served in South America and was a baker in the Blimp Corps.
Prior to working as a Postal Carrier for 29 years in Natick, Mr. Noonan worked at General Motors in Framingham, as a baker at John Hancock in Boston, and as a blade inspector for Gillette in South Boston. After he retired from the Postal Service in 1982, he moved to Whitinsville in 1986 and worked at the former Phillips Market for 8 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and Saint Patrick's Church.
Mr. Noonan's Funeral Mass in Saint Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville, MA, will be Thursday, October 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. Masks are required at all services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Joseph’s Indian School, Boys Town, or Special Olympics.
