Gail M. Gates

Gail M. Gates, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 6th, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Gail is survived by her sister Star Curry and her husband Jack, her sister Elisa Benedetti and her husband Andrew, her brother Dale Gates and his wife Cheryl, and brother Scott Gates. She was a loving aunt to Christopher, Kelley, Jordan, Marisa, Alayna, Sara, Michaela and Emmalee. She also leaves behind her closest and best friends Joe and Tom Tsimogiannis. She was predeceased by her parents Warren and Joanne (Martinsen) Gates and her sister Robin Furno.

Gail was born October 24, 1956, and grew up in Douglas, graduating from Douglas High School. She moved to Northbridge shortly thereafter where she lived until her death. She was a longtime manager at Harry's Famous Pizza in the Whitinsville Plaza, working there for over 50 years. Her family would often tease her that she made such a good impression at her first and only job interview that she got the job for life. 

Gail developed a love of cruising and travel in her 20s and 30s and traveled around the world on many different cruise ships visiting Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, and Greece. She was artistic and enjoyed crocheting, making beautiful afghans for her nephew and nieces when they were younger. She was always up for a trip to Foxwoods and deep-sea fishing, but mostly liked to be at work running Harry's Pizza. Gail was hard working, kind and generous and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services for Gail will be Saturday, April 15, 2023.  Visitation, at Carr Funeral Home, will be held from 9:30-11AM, followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Gail may be made to the NAC Food Pantry, 20 Highland St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
