Gail M. (Forsythe) Proulx,78, passed away on May 20, 2025, at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Born on October 27, 1946, in Milford, MA, the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Rodnick) Forsythe.
She grew up in Northbridge and graduated from Saint Patrick’s School, Northbridge High School in 1964 and furthered her education at Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in Fitchburg, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Later in life Gail, also earned a degree from Quinsigamond Community College in Electronic Biotechnology. Her career was dedicated to caring for others; she worked as an LPN at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester and later for the University of Massachusetts Medical School as a Contract Analyst until her retirement in 2014.
She was an active member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster, where she served as a greeter at funerals and was involved in the Marion Movement of Priests Cenacle. Faith, family, and community were central to Gail’s life.
Gail was a woman of many interests, including quilting, crafting, knitting, gardening, American history and cooking for family and friends. She cherished time spent at the beach, especially at Horseneck Beach.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Welsh and her husband Daniel of CT; stepdaughters Donna Harris and her husband David of MA, and Carol Charbonneau of MA; stepsons Gary Charbonneau and his wife Darlene of NH, and John Charbonneau and his wife Heather of MA; sisters Cathy Woeller of MA, and Susan and her husband Donn Clarke of MA. Gail was also a loving grandmother to Lindsay, Hayley, Jake, Alexis, and Ryan, a great-grandmother to Oliver and aunt to Lisa, Jim, and Nathan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Proulx, second husband, Edward Charbonneau, beloved son, Seth Proulx and her brother in law Doug Woeller.
Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 E. Main St., Webster, MA 01570, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Saint Philips Cemetery, 74 Millbury St., Grafton, MA. Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA 01588, is assisting with arrangements.
