George A. Leveillee, Jr., 61, Northbridge, MA
On Sunday July 16, 2023 George, who was born and raised in Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully at his home he built with his wife in Northbridge, MA surrounded by his devoted family. While his health began declining in early 2022, George was diagnosed with cancer in February of this year. He battled with great courage, strength, and grace, both before and after diagnosis. He will be missed by many near and far.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Pamela (Cushman) Leveillee, and his cherished daughter Amanda, both of Northbridge. He is predeceased by his precious daughter April Leveillee, his father George (Jake) Leveillee, Sr., of Worcester and his mother Edna (Wyman) Leveillee. George was the youngest and the last living of six siblings – Carol Leveillee, Rose (Leveillee) Gilbert, Walter O’Brien, James O’Brien, and William O’Brien. He leaves dozens of nieces and nephews and is affectionately known to them as Uncle in Blue, as he often wore his favorite attire of a blue pocket t-shirt.
George was extremely athletic in his younger years, playing many sports including boxing and football, with his greatest passion and natural gift being baseball. He worked for Peterson Oil Service for nearly 40 years before retiring. George is known to both find and make friends wherever he goes, and will always be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, and his great storytelling.
George enjoyed road trips with the family the most. Many were to sports memorabilia conventions and he also had the goal of seeing a game at every MLB park, and did achieve multiple games at six different parks around the country. His favorite and most frequented of course being Fenway Park. Much time was also spent on the Cape watching Cape Cod Baseball League games. He was current and knowledgeable to speak on any sport and loved the Bruins, Celtics, and Cowboys, and his favorite was the Boston Red Sox. While he watched many professional games over the years, his favorite was watching his daughter and her soccer and lacrosse teams and rarely missed a game.
