Gladys was born in Woonsocket, RI on August 22, 1940, the youngest of 13 children, and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School. Gladys was a stay at home, devoted mother. After raising her children, she volunteered as a librarian at the Douglas Elementary School where she eventually retired after 30 years as the Assistant Secretary. She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid supporter of all her children's athletics from Little/Lassie League through college and beyond. She loved music and puzzles, past times she shared with her husband, and often traded puzzles with friends. She loved traveling with her husband, whether it was a cross country trip, a long drive to look at foliage, or visits with friends and family in North Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Aside from being a mother, her greatest sense of pride and joy was being a grandmother, supporting all her grandchildren's many interests.
