Obituary

Gladys E. (Ramsay) Heldenbergh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, surrounded by her family.   Gladys leaves 4 children, Pamela J. Moynagh and her husband Kevin, of Worcester; Kyle W. Heldenbergh and his wife Jessica, of Sutton, Andrea L. Hughes and her husband Mitch, of Barre and Gary V. Heldenbergh and his wife Patti, of Burlington; her brother Alton Ramsay, of Ormond Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Julia, Timothy and Patrick Moynagh, Emily, Joshua and Caroline Heldenbergh, Connor, Carter and Abigail Hughes, and Ryan and Tyler Heldenbergh; and many dear nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Her husband of 51 years, William V. Heldenbergh, predeceased her in 2016.

Gladys was born in Woonsocket, RI on August 22, 1940, the youngest of 13 children, and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School.  Gladys was a stay at home, devoted mother. After raising her children, she volunteered as a librarian at the Douglas Elementary School where she eventually retired after 30 years as the Assistant Secretary.  She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid supporter of all her children's athletics from Little/Lassie League through college and beyond. She loved music and puzzles, past times she shared with her husband, and often traded puzzles with friends.  She loved traveling with her husband, whether it was a cross country trip, a long drive to look at foliage, or visits with friends and family in North Carolina, Virginia and Florida.  Aside from being a mother, her greatest sense of pride and joy was being a grandmother, supporting all her grandchildren's many interests.

Gladys’s family sends heartfelt thanks to the amazing caregivers at the Levine Cancer Center, Memorial Hospital and Rose Monahan—each and every one of you are angels on Earth.
