Whitinsville-Harry Simonian, 87, died Tuesday, June 27, in the UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, after a period of declining health.  He is survived by a son, Harry M. Simonian, of Whitinsville; three daughters, Sandra Scully, and her husband, Dana, of Sutton, Christina Simonian, of Whitinsville, and Carol Lynn Goulding and her husband Ken, of Woonsocket; 4 grandchildren; Michael, Michelle, and Alyssa Scully and Maeghan Remillard; and 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte and Andrew Scully.  He was predeceased in 2013 by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol ( McCrea) Simonian, and his sisters Sylvia Merriman and Sarah Eghian.

Mr. Simonian was born February 28, 1930, in Whitinsville, a son of Oscar and Takoqui (Venatian) Simonian.  He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1948  and Clark University in 1952.  He continued his education at Brown University and  earned  a Masters degree from Worcester State College in 1959.  In 1954 Harry began a long career as an educator,  first teaching Math at Northbridge High School,  then serving as principal for 10 years prior to becoming Superintendent of the Northbridge public schools for 21 years, retiring in 1990.  After retiring, he served as an interim superintendent in the Millbury and Berlin/Boylston Schools and interim  principal in Sutton. For a period he taught night classes at Fitchburg State College.

Harry enjoyed vegetable gardening, reading, and all New England sports teams. He served as a trustee at Unibank for 30 years, was a 50 year Mason, a member of the Whitinsville Golf Club and from 1975-79 was a baseball agent for the Minnesota Twins.  He was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church where he served as a trustee.  He loved children of all ages, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

Calling hours are Sunday, July 2, 4-6pm in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville.  Mr. Simonian's funeral will be Monday, July 3 at 11am at the Armenian Apostolic Church, burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
