Janet R. (Stanley) Ingham, 91, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Friday, October 29. Her husband, Lorne R. Ingham, died in 2001, after celebrating 51 years together. She is survived by two sons, Randall R. Ingham, and his wife, Susan, of Uxbridge, and Bradley B. Ingham, and his wife, Phyllis, of Jacksonville, AL; a daughter, Judith McGrath, and her husband, John, of Whitinsville; seven grandchildren, Dr. Randall R. Ingham, II, Dr. Tyler A. Ingham, Jillian B. Dearnley, Joshua C. Ingham, Jason L. Ingham, Jennie L. Thibeault, and Adam D. Jorritsma; and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and three brothers.
Mrs. Ingham was born in Marlborough, March 1, 1930, a daughter of Bert and Rose (Cureton) Stanley and had lived in Whitinsville since 1954. She was a 1947 graduate of Marlborough High School and Salter Secretarial School.
With her husband, she owned the former Store for Pipe Furniture in Sturbridge and Whitinsville for over 20 years. She also worked at the Christian Science Publishing Society in Boston, for the Mingolla Family and at the age of 80, retired from Coldwater Creek Clothing.
Mrs. Ingham was a member of the 2nd Church of Christ, Scientist in Worcester. She was a member and past president of the Whitinsville Woman's Club and the 13th District President's Club. An avid reader, she also enjoyed cake decorating, birdwatching, gardening, home decor, word search puzzles, and she was a diehard Red Sox fan.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 13, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, preceded by a Calling Hour from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church Street, Whitinsville, MA, 01588.
