Katherine Z. (Iobst) Gonynor

Katherine Z. (Iobst) Gonynor died at home, Monday, April 3, 2023, surrounded by love, after a brief illness.  She leaves her devoted husband of 51 years, Gerald F. “Gerry” Gonynor and their children Michael Gonynor of Portland, Maine and Rachael Gallant and her husband Parrish, of Douglas; two beloved granddaughters, Caroline and Gabrielle, of Douglas; two sisters, Mary Amorello, of Uxbridge and Patty McDonald and her husband Doug,  of Pompano Beach, FL; three sisters in law: Geraldine (Gonynor) VanderBaan and her husband Russell, of Northbridge, Elizabeth (Gonynor)  Travers and her husband Guy, of Florida, and Charlene Gonynor of Sutton; many cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

A daughter of Zane and Katherine “Katchy” (Arakelian) Iobst, Kathy was born April 30, 1953, in Emmaus, PA, and moved to Whitinsville when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Northbridge High School in 1971, after which she worked as a waitress at the former Victorian for many years.  Once her children were in school, Kathy attended Rob Roy Academy in Worcester and became  a hair stylist and  co-owner of Compliments Hair Design.  She retired in 2010.

Kathy was an avid reader and a talented decorative painter; she had a good eye for design and enjoyed decorating her home.  She and Gerry loved traveling together, often by motorcycle.  One of her most beloved past times was to be in New Hampshire, with family, especially boating on Squam Lake.  She was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville and the church Ladies Guild.

Calling Hours, from 4-7PM, are Wednesday, April 5, 2023.  Kathy’s Funeral will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 6, in the Armenian Apostolic Church, Whitinsville.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, PO Box 756, Osceola, WI 54020-0756.
