Kathleen A. (Hayes) LaFlash died Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She leaves her husband of nearly 45 years, Clement LaFlash, of North Providence and their son, Robert LaFlash, of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Michael Hayes, of Washington, North Carolina; two sisters: Maureen Whitfield, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Michelle Witt, of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathy was born in Worcester, May 29, 1958, to the late Robert A. and Jeanne (Dupre) Hayes. She was a 1976 graduate of Northbridge High School. After high school, Kathy went to technical school to become an EEG technician and worked several years in that field before she decided to go back to school. She earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Worcester State University. She began a 20-year career teaching high school Science at Bay Path Regional High School. She retired from Nipmuc Regional High School in June 2022. She lived most of her life in Northbridge, until moving to North Providence in April 2023.
In her free time, Kathy liked reading and embroidery. She and Clem enjoyed traveling together; twice they traveled across the United States, and they also enjoyed a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, February 7, 2023, from 6-8PM. Burial will be held at 11AM, Thursday, February 8, 2023, in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Providence Rd., Whitinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Kathy may be made to NOWA Recovery Support Center, 9 Spring St., Whitinsville, MA 01588. (www.nowarsc.org)
