Kenneth Bruce Graves, 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 8, 1946, the son of the late Mahlon and Eunice (Peck) Graves.
Ken was raised in Northbridge and Sutton before moving to California as a teenager and graduating from Lakewood High School. In 1967, he and Vicki were married in Long Beach before moving to Whitinsville to raise their family. Ken was a Real Estate Broker in the Blackstone Valley until his retirement in 2009.
In 1974, Ken became a Born Again Christian and began his true passion of ministering to youths and young adults on the streets. As a longtime member of Faith Fellowship Church in Uxbridge, Ken and his wife were very active in their youth group and international missionary programs. He also worked with the Uxbridge Police Department to establish two drop-in centers for teens. Ken was also a substitute teacher in the local High Schools for many years and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, home renovation projects, and spending time with his friends and family.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Victoria (Davey) Graves, and his children Penelope Donnelly, Jeffrey Graves and his wife Marion, Brian Graves and his wife Michelle, Timothy Fortugno and his wife Kelly, Naomi Kelley, and Jillian Plasse and her husband Zachary, 19 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Cynthia Hoekstra and Karen Tassey and a grandson, Declan Plasse. Over the past 45 years, Ken was a foster parent to more than 100 teens and young adults.
Calling hours will be held at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville, on Sunday, April 30, from 2-4 PM. Ken's funeral will be at Faith Fellowship Church, 647 Douglas St, Uxbridge, on Monday, May 1, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory can be made to Faith Fellowship Youth Group, 647 Douglas St., Uxbridge, MA 01569.
