Leo Morrissette, formerly of Millbury and Sutton, died Thursday, October 30, 2025, after a period of declining health. He leaves two sons, Leo Morrissette, Jr. and his wife Amy, of Gunnison, Colorado, and Richard Morrissette and his wife Sabrina, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Kathy Derusha and her husband Loren, of Sun City Center, Florida and Lori Nestor and her husband Steven, of Uxbridge, Massachusetts; three brothers: Rene, Omer and Raymond Morrissette, all of Sumter, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Morrissette was predeceased by his siblings Yvonne Willette and Paul Morrissette.
A son of Napolean and Celia (Lavallee) Morrissette, Leo was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on October 23, 1941. During his youth, his family moved to Manchaug, where he remained until moving to Millbury in 1971.
Leo was a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Air Force stationed at Westover Air Force Base where he worked on B-52 Bombers. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and the Teamsters' Union. Leo spent many years working as a truck driver for C&S Wholesale Groceries and JB Hunt, as well as owning his own trucking company for a time. He ultimately retired from the Department of Corrections; he worked as a woodworking instructor at the Shirley prison. In his free time, Leo built kitchen tables, cabinets, bedroom sets, cradles, stools and rocking horses, in addition to many, many heirloom pieces made by his hands for his family.
Calling Hours, at Carr Funeral Home, will be from 9:30-11AM will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, with a funeral service to start at 11AM. Burial will follow in New Howard Cemetery, Armsby Road, Sutton.
