Whitinsville... Marcia Ann (Hewitt) McAvoy, 74, died Friday, January 8, in the Milford Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert E. McAvoy; two daughters, Melanie Kinsley, and her husband, Justin, of Ashland, and Tara Hebert and her companion, Scott Grinavic of Plainville; three step-children, Robert Emmons, of Attleboro, Susan Good, and her husband, Jon, of Gloucester, and Cynthia York, and her husband, Lester, of Alton, Maine; two grandchildren, Jocelin and Joshua Hebert, and a sister, Denise Fraites, and her husband, John in South Carolina.

Mrs. McAvoy was born in Melrose, October 6, 1946, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Powers) Hewitt. She grew up in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. Following her marriage, she lived in Franklin for many years before moving here 18 years ago.

After attending business school, Marcia applied her acumen with math and numbers to a career as a bank teller, first at Ben Franklin Savings in Franklin, then at Medway Cooperative Bank.

A sharp woman, known for her quick wit, Marcia enjoyed baking, sewing, and reading and watching mysteries. She was an accomplished water skiier and candlepin bowler in her younger days.
