Mary Connors Obituary

Mary C. (Rykosky) Connors, a long-time resident of Whitinsville, died on Friday, January 22, in Milford Hospital after a  brief period of declining health.  Her husband of 61 years, John B. Connors, passed in August of 2013.

Mrs. Connors is survived by two sons, Kevin M. Connors and his wife Rosemary, of Douglas, and Michael J. Connors and his wife Susan, of Tewksbury, two grandchildren, Kelli Connor D'Amico and her husband Richard, of NY and Abigail Connors Aldrich and her husband Justin, of CT, two great-grandchildren, Valerie D'Amico and Julian Aldrich, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Richard, in 2000.

Born in Uxbridge, the daughter of Anthony J. and Julia M. (Cahill) Rykosky, Mrs. Connors was a graduate of Uxbridge High School and Becker College.  She was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company upon graduation as secretary to the district manager.  She was also employed as a secretary in the personnel department of the former Bachmann-Uxbridge Worsted Corporation in Uxbridge and then worked as a permanent substitute teacher in the business department of Northbridge High School.  In later years she was a retail banking representative at the former Bank of Boston in Whitinsville until her retirement in 1995.

Mary was a member of the Whitinsville Women's  Club, St. Camillus Hospital Guild and a volunteer for Tri-Valley Elder Services.

As a long time member of St. Patrick's Parish in Whitinsville, she attended Mass daily and in former years served on the bereavement and flower committees and as a lector.  She was an avid sorts fan and enjoyed her children's and grandchildren's sporting events.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grand mother with an abiding faith and whose family was the heart of her life.

Mrs. Connor's Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church and burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery are private.  A celebration of Mary's life will be planned when her family and friends can safely gather.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church, c/o the Bereavement Committee, PO Box 60, Whitinsville, MA 01588.
