Mary Lee (Colgan) Shaw, 64, died, peacefully, at home surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness, Saturday, September 11. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Peter B. Shaw; a daughter, Erin Piccioli, and her husband, Christopher, of Sutton; two sons, Matthew Shaw, and his wife, Meagan, of Westborough, and Peter Shaw, Jr., of Douglas; beloved grandchildren, Logan, Avery, Julianna, Lucas, Torin, and Mason; a brother, Peter Colgan, of Millis, and two sisters, Brenda Colgan, of Chelsea, and Beth Chester, of West Dennis, MA. She was predeceased by siblings Paul Colgan, and Linda Turnbull.
Mrs. Shaw was born in Arlington, May 2, 1957, a daughter of Paul and Shirley (Wheaton) Colgan, where she grew up and graduated from Arlington High School. She lived in Harvard, Westborough and Whitinsville prior to moving to Sutton. Mary Lee was a graduate of Northeastern University, and she held a Master's Degree from Fitchburg State College, and she owned and operated the Harvard Children's Academy and was a long time CASA volunteer. She enjoyed cooking, and loved to entertain family and friends.
A former member of Saint Luke's Church in Westborough, Mary Lee's family was the focal point of her life.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday, September 15, in Saint Luke's Church, 70 W. Main St., Westborough. Burial in the Massachusetts National Veterans' Cemetery in Bourne will be private. There are no Calling Hours.
