Michael Richard Howard, 81, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Michael spent most of his life in New England before enjoying his retirement years in Englewood, Florida. He was a proud graduate of Hull High School, class of 1964. Michael carried his New England roots with him throughout his life, remaining a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He worked for Stop & Shop Supermarkets for 45 years as a loyal employee who took pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents Mary Castle and Richard Howard. He is survived by his three daughters Lauren Baker, Sarah Bomberry and husband David, and Meghan Clough and her husband Don. Michael took great pride in being a “Grampie” to Meredith, Madeline, Caroline, Olivia, Owen, Adam and Emma and loved nothing more than spending time with family. He is also survived by his loving sisters Marcia and Debbie, and her husband Rob, and his nieces and nephews Kevin, Jeff, Jeannie, Kim, Denise, and Rob.
Michael enjoyed his life and traveled frequently with his loving fiancee of 34 years Cheryl Morin. He loved spending time with her daughters Stacy, Jennifer and Kristan and their children Alex, Kaia and Aubrey.
Michael enjoyed sports, music and muscle cars, but his biggest joy was always time spent with family, whether in New England or sunny Florida, where he was truly able to enjoy his retirement. He loved listening to oldies, spending time on his boat, and feeding the birds at the beach.
A private family service will be held at a later date. His family encourages those who knew and loved him to honor his memory in their own way. Michael’s legacy lives on in the love of his family and friends and all the wonderful memories he leaves behind. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association.
