Nancy Frieswick Obituary

Nancy Ann (Burroughs) Frieswick, died peacefully while surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 20, 2024. She leaves her husband Donald Frieswick, of 53 years; two sons: Kevin Frieswick and his wife Melissa, of Mendon, and Todd Frieswick and his wife Jocelyn, of Northbridge; four grandchildren: Isabelle, Amanda, Arthur, and Meghan; and two nieces, Karen Ashcraft and Kristin Steele and their families, all in Ohio; and her faithful four-legged companion Oliver.  Nancy was predeceased by her sister Donna Ashcraft, and two beloved dogs Fenway and Sam.

Born September 5, 1952 in Northbridge, a daughter of Wayne G. and Lucienne (Roberge) Burroughs, Nancy graduated from Northbridge High School and was a life-long resident.  As a teenager, Nancy volunteered many hours as a candy striper at Whitinsville Hospital Beaumont Nursing Home, which led her to study to become an LPN at the former David Hale Fanning School and she continued to work at Beaumont for many years as a nurse.  In 1984, Nancy and Don purchased Ambur Machine in Northbridge, continuing the family business that Nancy’s father established in 1971.  She served as the owner and president of the company until 2015, when the business was sold and she and her husband retired.  During retirement, they enjoyed camping in Leesburg, Florida and at Normandy Farms in Foxborough.  They took up ballroom dancing at the Arthur Murray studio in Worcester, enjoying 15 years of dancing locally and aboard ships while cruising the four corners of the Caribbean Sea.

Another of Nancy’s retirement projects was training her beloved dog Oliver to become a certified therapy dog. They were frequent visitors at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge and several local schools.  Nancy loved shopping, especially bringing each of her grandchildren back-to-school shopping at the start of each school year and Christmas shopping for their gifts.  Spoiling her grandchildren was a favorite pastime.  Nancy also enjoyed attending theater performances at the former Foothills Theater and more recently at The Hannover Theater in Worcester.

Nancy’s services were private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Project Purple, through the following link, Todd Frieswick's fundraising page for Project Purple, or by sending donations to 115 Main St. Suite 1, Seymour, CT, 06483 and include “In memory of Nancy Frieswick” in the memo line.  Project Purple’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of pancreatic cancer patients and their families through research and financial assistance for patients and families undergoing treatment.
