Oscar "Ace" Asadoorian, 90, died Thursday, November 26, in the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Worcester, following a period of declining health. He was born in Whitinsville, December 24, 1924, the son of Simon and Margaret (Abajian) and was a lifelong resident. He was predeceased by his sisters, Hasnig Magarian and Nora Asadoorian, and is survived by a niece.
Ace attended Northbridge High School, and he was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a custodian in the Northbridge schools for 24 years, prior to retiring in 1992, and previously worked at the Whitin Machine Works.
He was known as an outstanding basketball player, and he umpired softball and refereed basketball for many years. He was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the John and Richard Moran Post VFW in Whitinsville, and in later years he enjoyed trips to the casino and playing bingo.
Ace's Funeral Services will be held privately, and there are no Calling Hours. Memorial donations are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 78516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516.
