Richard J. DeMeo, 68, died at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, after an illness. He leaves behind a daughter, Christine (DeMeo) Pearce and her husband Ryan of Whitinsville; two grandchildren: Devin and Ava Pearce; a son, Ricky DeMeo of Nashville, TN; two brothers: Anthony DeMeo and his wife Judy of Stow, and Francis DeMeo, Jr. of Yarmouth; two sisters: Ann Pettrone, of Wilton, CT and Maryjo Fulciniti and her husband Vito, of Stoneham. In addition, Richard leaves behind his significant other, Cynthia Reynolds, of Whitinsville, and his former wife Maureen DeMeo, of Northbridge; and many cousins, nephews and nieces, and longtime friends in the Waltham area.

Richard was born October 19, 1957, in Newton, to the late Francis DeMeo, Sr. and Caroline (Mobilia) DeMeo. He grew up in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School in 1975. After graduating, he attended tractor trailer training school and earned a CDL license. He worked at Waltham Lime and Cement Company for 18 years driving a boom truck and delivering building materials. He later worked at Swenson Granite Works in Medway delivering and installing granite products such as steps, mailbox posts and benches.

Richard is described by loved ones as selfless, honest, hardworking and having a great sense of humor. He was a talented musician who played bass guitar, enjoyed woodworking, and vacationing on Cape Cod with his family. Richard cherished the simple life – backyard cookouts and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Since moving to Whitinsville almost five years ago, he has enjoyed social hour and community events with his Linwood Mill friends.

Richard's Memorial Service will be at 11AM, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.  Calling Hours will be held immediately prior to the memorial service from 9-11AM. Burial will be held privately at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Richard may be made to Brookhaven Hospice, 5 Mount Royal Avenue, Suite 40, Marlborough, MA 01752.
